THE ARTIST on the Steps of the National Archives before her presentation there in 2005.
Jaeri Knock discovered Pennsylvania German Fraktur about twenty years ago, and from that time a life long love affair began between the Artist and these exquisite documents. The Artist first works were muslin ornaments inspired by the naive figures embellishing the early Birth & Baptismal certificates. As a Revolutionary War reenactor, Jaeri began selling these collectibles at reenactments. They have since been sold at Historic Sites and museums including the National Archives in Washington, DC & the American Musueum of Folk Art in NYC. After being invited by the National Archives to do a Fraktur presentation, Jaeri has focused on creating traditional Frakturs on paper in watercolors and inks. Not a day passes, that doesn't find the Artist in her continuous research on these cherished works of Early Pennsylvania.
